LONDON SHOW / ‘CINNAMON’
Tripwires make their first outing in public with the upload of a home made film to accompany their track ‘Cinammon’. You can watch the film here:
The band also play the Christmas party of their AC30 label on 7th December at The Buffalo Bar at Highbury Corner in the company of Ringo Deathstarr and Adam Franklin & Bolts Of Melody.
Tripwires are four young men from Reading initially driven by a desire to play a loud as they could which, over time, has translated into a desire to combine sky scraping guitars and cultured noise with honeyed melodies and pop dynamics. As ‘Cinnamon’ attests, the four are pretty much on the mark already. Drawing from a diverse range of influences encompassing Brian Eno, Greece’s legendary cult progists Aphrodites Child, Talk Talk and ‘Revolver’ era Beatles, the four belie their youth by transposing the sonic experimentalisms of their muse into a thoroughly modern take on noise pop.
The film for ‘Cinnamon’ was made in Rhys’ garage and gives a visual key to accompany the band’s music. A jump cut blur of pop culture images from across the decades incorporating numerous cult films, weird moments in time and a parade of individuals, the film echoes the likes of the 14 hour Technicolour Dream extravaganza of 1967 and London’s legendary Syndrome Club of the early 90s but also references the information overload of the modern era.
Tripwires have just finished recording their debut album, a nine day burst of live to tape frenzy with producer Dan McBean in London following initial recordings in Rhys’ front room. Expect a single in the New Year prior to the album in Spring.
