Loyal fans are the best thing a band – and us! – could ever ask for. This is why we have Claire Lonsdale writing a short review of her thoughts of the Ash gig, and she provides us with the photos too!
Supported by two very good warm up acts (The Lines and Crimea, with The Lines providing a highly enjoyable moment with the lead guitarist standing on the drumkit and playing it at the same time as the drummer), Ash return to London to play in full all tracks from their A to Z journey.
As always, they didn’t disappoint us. With a setlist which spanned throughout their long career, including lots of tracks from A-Z, such as Binary (one of my favourites), Arcadia, Return of the White Rabbit, mixed with Girl from Mars, Goldfinger, Shining Light, Kung Fu, Jack Names The Planets, Oh Yeah and Burn Baby Burn as well as Weezer cover of Only In Dreams.
The audience loved every bit of it, and you could see in their faces they could feel the love their loyal fans have for them. On our side, we could definitely see that they still enjoy what they are doing and are happy to be playing for us tonight, a mixture of energy and adrenaline flies around the venue, it’s amazing!
The gig also proved to be quite an interesting chance to listen to the long instrumental track Sky Burial, which is a fascinating contrast to some of their faster numbers.
A highly enjoyable night. I can’t wait to see what they will do next.
