Chase & Status @ O2 Academy Liverpool

Trying to review a Chase & Status gig is like attempting to recall the events of a dream; everything’s a little bit hazy and you can’t quite believe the things that you have seen. That said, the boys certainly know how to put on a show. From the moving images on the screen to the frankly incredible lighting show, going to see Chase & Status is an experience rather than simply an event.
Sometimes it is easy to forget just how many fantastic tracks Chase & Status have worked on but the reminders were thick and fast in the 70 minutes that the group were on stage for. What was perhaps most impressive were the seemingly endless supply of special guests that the group called upon to recreate the magic of tracks like “Let You Go” and “Heartbeat.” When the vocalists weren’t present, videos of them singing on the screen filled the void and the sheer enthusiasm of the group certainly made up for anything that felt lacking. Tracks “End Credits” and “Pieces,” both featuring Plan B, were especially well received by a crowd that was full of energy and made sure that the gig was really special to be a part of.
It won’t be long until Chase & Status are selling out arenas, let alone the small scale of the Liverpool O2 Academy, and I suggest that if you get the chance to see them you grasp it with both hands.
