Saturday Matinee Details Unveiled

| On 13, Nov 2010

Saturday, 13thth November sees the next instalment of Topman’s in store DJ programme ‘Saturday Matinee’ in its Oxford Circus flagship store. The menswear destination on the British high street with its recently added second floor housing new Topman collections such as ‘AAA’, the latest Topman Limited trend ‘Helmsman’ and ‘Topman Design’ as well as hand-picked ‘Superbrands’. What better way to shop on a Saturday afternoon than with a soundtrack provided by some of the most up-and-coming and influential trendsetting bands, promoters and DJs on the London and national music scene. Saturday Matinee further enhances Topman’s ongoing support of the brightest musical talent around and perfectly compliments our existing music platform Topman CTRL (topmanctrl.com).

The first couple of months’ programming includes current NME Radar Tour favourites ‘Chapel Club’ as well as bands ‘Wild Palms’ and boy / girl duo ‘Summer Camp’. Influential promoters such as Stopmakingme and Club.The.Mammoth also add their name to an ever growing and exciting line-up leading up to Christmas and continuing into the New Year.

This Saturday Matinee (13th November) sees Xfm DJ Jon Hillcock fill the 1pm-3pm slot followed by hot new band ‘Stricken City’ in the 4pm-6pm slot.

Jon Hillcock presents Xfm’s ‘New Noise’ and has built up a dedicated and fanatical fan base. New Noise is dedicated to filtering the very best new sounds from an increasingly bloated, often bewildering modern musical landscape. Having grown from a radio show on both Xfm and NME Radio, New Noise has now developed into a freely downloadable weekly 10 song podcast, which focuses on quality over quantity.

Following Jon is ‘Stricken City’. Founding members Iain Pettifer (guitars) and Rebekah Raa (vocals/keys) play pop songs lingering on lovers and tramps jumping between places and pictures. Drawing on influences from The Slits, Life Without Buildings and Young Marble Giants, the band create new wave, spiky, jangling pop and are becoming increasingly renowned for their live shows.

Catch Jon Hillcock and ‘Stricken City’ as part of Saturday Matinee while you can and stay up to date with the latest news and additions to the line-up at topman.com and topmanctrl.com.
