The Warehouse Project : Kele plays live on 18th Nov
aaamusic | On 12, Nov 2010
The second WHP event taking place outside of the hallowed Store Street venue is a bit special. Welcoming back one of the stars of the summer’s scintillating debut festival, Parklife, The Warehouse Project ushers Kele back to the stage for a special Thursday 18th November gig at The Ritz.
It’s the already hugely successful solo project of London based singer-songwriter Kele Okereke of Bloc Party fame. His début single, Tenderoni, was released on 14 June 2010 followed by his seminal album The Boxer.
Okereke sees the ‘Kele’ brand as a way for him to embrace his interest in dance music. “I’ve been into clubbing for years. I’ve said from the beginning I’m into dance, it gets me excited and I think this record is going to go some way to prove that to people, hopefully.”
Indeed, with The Boxer, Kele has clearly begun an incredible new chapter of his already esteemed career. Having already appeared at a number of major festivals in his native UK this summer and a string of Stateside dates too, he headlines this WHP show as part of his European November touring.
CocknBullKid aka Anita Blay supports. The London singer’s debut album drops in early 2011, and the first single, One Eye Closed, has just come out to rave reviews.
