Shake Aletti Video/Free Telephoned Version

Over the past year, Shake Aletti has been making considerable waves in his hometown of Sheffield and beyond. Currently supporting Fenech-Soler on their UK tour, he was handpicked by BBC Radio 1 Introducing to play on their stage at the Sonar Festival in Barcelona. He was also recommended by the Mercury Music Prize panel as a “one to watch”.
Taking his name from Vince Aletti, the journalist who first coined the term ‘disco’, Shake Aletti aka Steve Nicholls, has worked with the likes of Toddla T (who’s since become a big champion), and Roots Manuva. His self-proclaimed ‘popfunk’ sound takes its inspiration from disco, P-funk, electro, and leftfield pop, with a defiantly quirky edge and a dash of Northern cheek.
In addition to the Fenech-Soler tour, recent and forthcoming gig dates include the Tramlines Festival, Plug, the Queen of Hoxton, and beyond. Away from his highly charged live shows (where he performs with a three-piece band), Shake Aletti has also remixed the likes of Ellie Goulding, Tinie Tempah, Bat For Lashes, and more.
From its austere, word of mouth beginnings in a dimly lit bar, Moda has grown into a UK club phenomenon, with 1600 capacity warehouse parties at Lincoln’s Engine Shed, events across the country, a weekly residency in Ibiza at Wonderland, and nocturnal forays lined up in Europe’s capital cities.
Shake Aletti is the latest signing to Moda Music, Moda’s record label arm and an imprint that’s quickly earned a reputation for signing white-hot new talent. So far in 2010, they’ve released Fenech-Soler’s ‘Stop & Stare’, one of the biggest indie singles of the year (and the springboard for the band’s ascent into the mainstream), plus singles from Moda head honcho’s Jaymo & Andy George (feat Roll Deep’s J2K), Tom Staar and the Requesters, and more.
