The Jim Jones Revue – Shoot First

If, like me, you derive pleasure from irritating everyone in earshot with your disdain for most ‘modern pop music’, in the process sounding like a 58 year old woman with a mortgage (and for the record, I stick by my theory that Katy Perry’s latest two singles are in fact the same song, and we’re all just too polite to say anything), ranting about the likely non-existent era in which mainstream music actually had something going for it, then Shoot First is for you. A throwback to that aforementioned golden age, The Jim Jones Revue’s latest effort is an Eddie Cochran inspired (though thankfully fresh) take on classic rock n roll – it’s suitably short and punchy, and though it’s clear the band knows exactly what sound they’re channelling, never once does it feel like they’re trying too hard to get it right.
