Röyksopp and Genero.tv launched a competition yesterday giving film makers the opportunity to make music videos for the band’s new album, Senior. The competition will be open from November 4 until January 17, with winners announced on the 21st. The choice of tracks includes 9 from Senior, with entrants given the freedom to make music videos for any of them.
27 finalists will be selected based on community votes, Röyksopp and Genero.tv judging. A total of 9 winners will be selected and prize money totals US$11,000 – the overall winner will receive US$3,000, while the remaining 8 winners will get US$1,000 each. A selection of the winning videos will also be featured as part of a special Röyksopp BUG event (London’s premiere music video event) at the BFI Southbank in London. Röyksopp will also be DJing after the music video showcase.
Senior, released on September 13, is the counterpart to last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Junior’ album. More introspective and freeform than its poppier partner and fully instrumental, ‘Senior’ was written as a complete set of tracks, each designated to take a specific part in the bigger piece.
The Röyksopp BUG Event (http://www.bugvideos.co.uk/) at the BFI Southbank in London will be held on February 11, 2011.
Senior was released on 13th September on Wall Of Sound.
