SONiDO presents: Jozif

So… Sonido turned the grand young age of two, and what a party it was. Jamie Jones, Death on the Balcony and Peter Parker and the club’s residents took over both rooms for a simply sublime birthday celebration, one which, out of all the recent parties the team have put on, was on another level by quite some way. The pure distillation of two years worth of hard work blossomed with a truly great party, and there are still two left to savour as Sonido heads towards concluding what has been a sterling year indeed, with the November and December parties featuring two sizzling hot spinners – Jozif and Dyed Soundorom respectively.
Tom Bennett, Sonido’s promoter, explains that, “We had a cracking birthday party which exceeded all expectations really. The guests were on great form and all the residents had so much fun. Plus the crowd were simply brilliant. There was an incredible feel to it, both rooms were really rocking! Now we’re on to the last two parties and have got a really exciting DJ coming up from London who we know is set for great things.”
And it’s not hard to see why. Hotly tipped London based DJ and producer Jozif has been immersed in music his whole life, and this enriching environment is really beginning to shine through. His talents have already garnered support from heavyweights including Craig Richards, Ben Watt, Matt Tolfrey, Andrew Weatherall, Paul Woolford and Ashley Beadle, while his highly distinctive and original productions have been signed to a plethora of respected labels across the scene. In the next few weeks Jozif plays at the ADE, Fabric and Tresor too – pretty impressive for this dedicated craftsman who continues to beguile and inspire his contemporaries.
2010 has already seen his acclaimed ‘Chicago EP’ out on the Wolf and Lamb imprint and a release with the widely lauded Balance series for the stunning ‘Tiger Tiger’ track. Jozif is set to make an immediate impact on the remix circuit with works scheduled for Island Records, Infine and the smashing remixes of ‘It’s Time’ by Birmingham based Subb-an and Shelton and ‘My Place’ by Death on the Balcony. The scene is set for a scintillating end to the year, with EPs penned for the Ibiza based Vitalik, Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom, Agoria’s Infine and Paul Woolford’s Intimacy.
To top this off, Jozif’s highly conceptual, limited edition collaborative label project with fabric musical director Craig Richards – Fist or Finger – is due for launch imminently; with Jozif’s early contributions including ‘Beats In Space’, ‘Brick Jane’ and ‘Room 3’, backed with Craig’s reinterpretations on the flip. Demand for jozif’s remix work has experienced a steep increase: works are scheduled for Compost, Mobilee and My Favourite Robot. Sonido are at it again, bringing another true on-the-cusp star to Leicester.
Support comes from Sonido’s crack team of residents Dani Solberg, Phil Walker
