Saturday Matinee

| On 31, Oct 2010

Saturday, 30th October sees the second instalment of Topman’s in store DJ programme ‘Saturday Matinee’ in its Oxford Circus flagship store. The menswear destination on the British high street with its recently added second floor housing new Topman collections such as ‘AAA’ and ‘Topman Design’ as well as hand-picked ‘Superbrands’. What better way to shop on a Saturday afternoon than with a soundtrack provided by some of the most up-and-coming and influential trendsetting bands, promoters and DJs on the London and national music scene. Saturday Matinee further enhances Topman’s ongoing support of the brightest musical talent around and perfectly compliments our existing music platform Topman CTRL (topmanctrl.com).

The first couple of months’ programming includes current NME Radar Tour favourites ‘Chapel Club’ as well as bands ‘Clock Opera’ and British etherealists ‘Still Corners’. Influential promoters such as ‘Russ Tannen’ (East London club nights FTWB and Progress) and ‘Club.The.Mammoth’ (London club nights at The Old Blue Last, Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and Lock Tavern) also add their name to an ever growing and exciting line-up leading up to Christmas and continuing into the New Year.

The second instalment of Saturday Matinee (30th October) sees esteemed promoters Club.The.Mammoth fill the 1pm-3pm slot followed by one of the bands of the moment ‘Clock Opera’ play the 4pm-6pm slot.

Club.The.Mammoth are Ed Pearson and Daniel Silvester Taylor-Lind; music aficionados and promoters who run regular nights in most of East London’s coolest hang outs. They choose the best cutting edge bands and DJ’s to play their nights that they believe should be heard. They also DJ themselves, blog and are in the process of setting up a record label.

Clock Opera are one of the most talked about up and coming bands on the music scene. They create their sound via a combination of conventional instrumentation and electronic production and manipulation, with specific attention to layering and repetition, and the application of various effects and devices. Guy Connelly’s distinguished vocals effortlessly swoop and soar above the music.

Catch both ‘Club.The.Mammoth’ and ‘Clock Opera’ as part of Saturday Matinee while you can and stay up to date with the latest news and additions to the line-up at topman.com and topmanctrl.com.
