Pet Shop Boys are undoubtedly one of the most popular bands in the world. The pop-dance pioneers have sold well over 50 million records worldwide and have a raft of awards, including three BRIT Awards. Since 1986 they have achieved 22 Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart including four Number Ones: “West End Girls”, “It’s a Sin “Always on My Mind” and “Heart  “.

This spectacular Christmas present comes hot on the heels of the recent announcement of the hugely successful Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions. Running over 6 nights, artists including Tom Jones, Paolo Nutini, Hurts, Ellie Goulding, The Kooks, Example, plus many more will be performing acoustic sets at Islington’s stunning Union Chapel.  Now in their 5th year the Sessions will celebrate its birthday in style.

Pet Shop Boys comment: “We are very happy to support Mencap and look forward to an amazing evening with our last UK Pandemonium show ever.”

Mencap ambassador Jo Whiley says: “We are delighted to have such a stellar line up for Mencap’s Big Noise Session, as it makes its London debut. Here’s to another unbelievable gig, at the same time raising money for a fantastic cause. Join me for a real Christmas treat“.

Mark Goldring, Mencap’s chief executive, commented: “ “It is fantastic that the much-loved Big Noise Session is coming to London this year.  This gig will not only raise vital funds for Mencap, but it will also help us to raise awareness of learning disability, which is a disability people often find hard to understand. The money raised will help Mencap continue to support thousands of people with a learning disability across the UK.”

There are 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK, who are among the most excluded and disadvantaged people in our society. Those with a learning disability find it harder than others to learn, understand and communicate. Mencap fights for the changes that people with a learning disability, their families and supporters want and need so that they can live their lives the way they choose.
