It’s a UKG Thing…

| On 22, Oct 2010

Stop press: It’s a UKG Thing, formerly known as It’s a London Thing (for grand timeframe of around 4 weeks) has been forced to change its name to It’s a UKG Thing.

Scott Garcia, who wrote the original UK garage tune ‘It’s a London Thing’ promotes nights already in London under that name.  Thus, as of today the Dalston UKG party is now calling itself; ‘It’s a UKG thing’.

Everyone loves UK garage, right?  Right.  It’s a UKG Thing is a brand new night, a tribute 90s UK garage, at Visions, Dalston on Sat Nov 13th.   To kick things off DJ Haus ‘n’ Benz aka HOT CITY will be playing a very special, one off, 90s UK garage set.  Expect to hear the likes of MJ Cole, Amira, Tuff Jam, Artful Dodger, DJ Zinc, Nightcrawlers, Danny J Lewis and many other great records of that era.

DJ Haus n Benz aka Hot City (currently on the cover of DJ magazine) have cemented their reputation as the duo injecting the fun back into dance music.  Their dancefloor productions straddle garage, house and techno without ever sitting still in one genre.  Their usual DJ sets dig deep into the history of UK garage, rave and modern day urban techno.  This special one off gig however, will see them digging out solely UK garage classics for one night of blinging fun.

Joining them on the night will be MC DT doing a special live PA.  He will perform new single Twist, as well as classic no 1 chart hit ‘Do you really like it’ (Pied Piper 2001).

So popular is the demand for the Hot City touch, the production unit have been busy remixing Robyn, Hot Chip, Cock’n’Bull kid, Kicks Like a Mule, Bobmo, Count & Sinden, Crookers & Kelis, and Monarchy, over the past few months.   In addition they have been DJing all over, notably at Cream Amnesia / Ibiza, DJ Mag party with Kyle Hall & Floating Points, XLR8R’s recent party in NYC’s Williamsburg, in a small bar which was sweaty, rammed and had people spilling onto the streets all night.  Coming up they make their live debut at Annie Mac Presents (in Birmingham), as well as Bugged Out shows.

Warming up will be Stacey Tang from popular east London r’n’b classics night Bangers & Mash Up, and finishing up with be Antony Hill from Fact magazine who will be doing a special 90s UK garage set.
