Sweden can keep the house mafia – Greece has got the ghetto-funk massive and leader of the pack is Thessaloniki’s George Fotiadis the man behind Basement Freaks.
Fotiadis has been killing it for the last few years on some of the world hottest labels. He’s dropped breakbeat science for nu-funk scene leader GoodGroove , US funk breaks outpost Funk Weapons (run by All Good Funk Alliance) and Smoove’s Wack Records. Fitiadis has also released Washington DC’s ESL, Austria’s Innervision, San Francisco’s Aniligital, Breakbeat Paradise and hot newcomer Manmade. On top of this, his Bombastic Jam label is one of the most sought after labels on Beatport & Juno.
Having heard his remix of Smoove & Turrell’s Beggarman single – Jalapeno got wind of the fact the there was some new original Basement Freaks material in the offing and made a swift offer to pick up the project after giving the first EP a listen.
‘Something Freaky’ is the killer track featuring the Prince–like vocals of Georges Perin who alongside soul singer Jazzmin make up the vocalists for the project.
Spanish breaks king Colombo takes first turn at remixing the single with a bad-ass funkadelic remix that show why he along with production partner Kultur have been dominating the Beatport breaks chart. Ghetto–Bass heavyweight Pimpsoul is next up to the mark with a mid tempo roller and finally Jalapeno label mate Max Sedgley drops a funky workout to complete the package.
Something Freaky will be released 29th November 2010 on Jalapeno
