Eliza Doolittle – Rollerblades
aaamusic | On 12, Oct 2010
Eliza Doolittle is charismatic young singer from North London who produces a set of off-kilter, kitsch melodies accompanied by erudite lyrics informed by her love of retro pop, Motown classics and the stresses of modern life…sounds pretty familiar doesn’t it? Despite this recently saturated genre churning out ditties faster than the general populous can keep up with them, ‘Rollerblades’ is actually one of most infectious efforts to emerge. Doolittle’s jauntily played piano keys, ska-inspired rhythms and toy drum noises make for a classic pop song, a great accompaniment to this Indian summer we seem to be experiencing – a surprising little respite from the cold that when gone will most likely take summer soundtracks like this one with it so enjoy it while it lasts.
