I Am Austin’s latest effort ‘L.A.F.S’ is one of those tracks which will probably follow you around indie clubs for a while to come. Somewhere between Death From Above and a stadium rock band, there is something about this track which just makes you want to dance. Combining infectious energy with irresistible urgency, I Am Austin manage to stay on just the right side of terrifying. This is the sort of tune that has parents worried about the transformative nature of music that turns normal teens into animals, dancing like there is nothing in the world to stop them. Particularly enjoyable is the underlying threat that the track could just explode at any time. The band sing, “You took my breath away,” on repeat but in reality they should be apologising for leaving you breathless.
