“Botanic Dreams” is the exciting debut album from Different Frequencies which takes an outlandish ride through a diverse range of influences and atmospheres, mashing up Dance / Pop / Hip Hop and Electro. With skilful songwriting and production, and a playful lyrical enthusiasm for exploring themes and ideas, Different Frequencies have created this exuberant album packed with infectious hooks and melodies. “Botanic Dreams” is a spirited collection of songs with a dynamic breadth and bags of character. From the boisterous high-paced skank of “What The Fup?” to the dreamy “Red Telephone Boxes”, no stone has been left unturned in the search for thrills. Elements of dance music, dub, electronica, chillout, indie and even Cuban jazz come together to create a staggeringly complete leftfield pop record. The first two singles from the album, “Flicking Switches” and “Whatever Next?”, have generated widespread attention as things really gather momentum for Different Frequencies. They’ve received plays on BBC radio and Xfm as well as many other stations worldwide. The band have enjoyed single-of-the-week features and whole-hearted support from the likes of Eddy Temple Morris, Rob Da Bank, Annie Nightingale, Don Letts and many more. Different Frequencies is the collaboration of Rob Watson and Benjamin McCourt. Rob Watson (aka The Magic Fly, aka Wicked Devil) combines a love of electronic music with his passion for Jamaican Reggae. He’s received critical acclaim from the likes of Mr Scruff, Drop The Lime, DJ Vadim and Kraak n Smaak, as well as Don Letts, who’s strongly supported his music on BBC Radio 6. He’s also received ‘Hottest Record in the World’ twice on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show. Benjamin McCourt is front man of “Brown”, a band spanning many genres including pop, house, chillout, ska, dub and more. He’s a renowned deep house vocalist and producer with a reputation for igniting dancefloors with his live DJ and vocal set. Brown have sold thousands of records worldwide and received widespread support from high-profile names such as Groove Armada, Laurent Garnier and Roger Sanchez.
