Friday 8th October 2010 sees The Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world, set sail for the second instalment of the Rizla Riverboat Shuffle, with special guest, Greg Wilson.
We invite you to join us on The Waverley, a true icon of engineering, which first came into service in 1947 to replace the original steamer sunk off Dunkirk in 1940. A living, breathing monument to Britain’s sea faring and shipbuilding heritage, the legendary steamer now cruises the Thames. With a capacity of 700, it is unlike any ship that has hosted parties on the capital’s river ever before.
The Riverboat Shuffle, aptly named after the original boat parties that took place on the Mississippi showboats many moons ago – is sure to be a hit amongst the London revellers.
The Rizla Arena has already made one visit to the capital at Lovebox, which saw the Rizla curators Grandmaster Flash, Hot Chip and Toddla T playing alongside Todd Edwards, Jazzie B, Larry Heard and Derrick Carter, ensuring that the London revellers had the times of their lives.
Lowlife parties are famous for their DIY approach to clubbing and keeping music lovers across the globe informed and in touch via DJHISTORY.COM. This is the annual Lowlife boat party so don’t miss out.
Optimo are DJs JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, when they’re not packing out the Sub Club in Glasgow, they’re touring the globe with their spectacularly diverse playlist and a no-nonsense ethos. They have produced compilation albums for Fabric and DJ Kicks as well as various remixes.
Pioneering DJ, Greg Wilson, needs no introduction, having recently played nearly every reputable club throughout the UK, he secured his legendary status by gracing the decks at The Hacienda and Wigan Pier. A Rizla favorite for many years, and one of the best DJs (in our opinion) there is.
