Youri Donatz – Amadeus

Youri Donatz is back to add another track to what is fast becoming a highly reputable and recognisable body of work for this young artist. Well on the way to establishing a reputation as one of the scene’s go–to guys for awesome techhouse remixes and an upcoming EP on DJ PP’s label Punta del Esta, this talented DJ and producer is a firm favourite on the club scene.

As well as bringing his flair and style to many remixes and collaborating with a number of influential artists, his own personal collection is rapidly gaining traction. His new track is aptly named Amadeus. Probably most famous for being Mozart’s middle name, Amadeus means ‘Love of God’. And my god, are you going to love this track. Youri Donatz has treated us to a perfectly paced piece of techhouse that is the perfect complement to a top night out.

The spacy grooves and tightly constructed beats give the track those unbeatable qualities of elegance and sophistication. Think more along the lines of beautiful people quaffing cocktails and looking fabulous than sweaty clubbers jumping up and down. This is where Youri Donatz’s skill truly lies – creating tracks that are listenable and memorable for sure, but never come across as invasive.

This is house music for smart people, no doubt about it. It’s subtle, and subtlety in dance music is a rare beast – something to be cherished and admired. Amadeus is an experiment in simplicity, and a highly successful one at that. The music ebbs and flows, giving tantalising hints at build before bringing you back to an even keel.
