LOL Boys – 123

When I first saw the name LOL BOYS, my first thoughts were that they were going to be another generic indie band. I was very wrong. There sound is hard to pin point and it is impossible to categorise them to just one genre of music; there three main influences are world music, house and hip pop, a great mix making for a catchy and contagious sound.
My first thoughts on the original mix of LOL BOYS – 123 was that it reminded me of being in a fitness or dance class, due to the repetitive rhythm and structure which tapped into your inner desire to dance. The Camo UFOs mix only made this desire stronger, and I was very tempted to get up and have myself a one woman rave in the middle of my bedroom, luckily for anyone who may have been watching I didn’t. The reprise ‘Counting’ had the a similar effect and also offered a slightly altered sound in terms of tempo and structure which was good, because nobody wants to hear the same thing over and over again. Also the male speaking voice at the beginning of Counting, reminded me of the meerkat from the compare the market advert which made LOL.
Definitely one to watch.
