Son Of A Kick – Revolution B

Though I wouldn’t call myself an expert on dubstep/drum & bass, I like to think that I can tell what’s good and what’s just rubbish in any genre of music. Luckily then, Son Of Kick’s latest release is most definitely the former. Its provocative music video shouldn’t draw attention away from the actual content of this great track – Revolution B is exciting, interesting, and above all, a good listen. It’s both creepy and full of energy – echoing voices are interspersed with a heavy beat and frantic electronics, resulting in a track that manages to be consistently good without becoming repetitive, a trap (in my experience) some less innovative dubstep tracks have fallen into in the past. This single is a triumph – I can only hope that the rest of Son Of Kick’s newest EP is this good.
