Hermes Unveils Debut Single

West country purveyors of baroque punk pop Hermes are set to release their ludicrously tasty debut single, the double A sided ‘No Age for Saints’ and ‘Jack’ on August 16th. Unbelievably accomplished for such a young band, it’s easy to see where the 3-piece got their name from, as these two sure-fire hits are definitely a message straight from the Gods…
Driven from the get go by its instantly unforgettable hook, “No Age For Saints’ takes about two seconds to get under your skin and an eternity to get out of your head. This gloriously euphoric slice of power pop makes its mark with its obscenely catchy and uplifting riff and will have you uncontrollably reaching for your air guitar and unafraid of the consequences.
‘Jack’ is a big bold power ballad that builds from the dreamy opener into a wall of sound that really highlights Thomas and James’ seering vocals and gorgeous harmonies. This epic anti anthem is the perfect flip-side to No Age For Saints and is bound to join it on this summer’s radio schedules, spotify playlists and homemade compilations across the country.
Hermes are teenagers Thomas Jacob, James Dolman and George Montague, three friends from Cirencester. They got together to form Hermes in 2009 have spent the last year writing, recording demos and refining their sound in any space available, be it their bedrooms, kitchens or the garage.
A mutual friend passed on a demo to producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia and Bullet For My Valentine) who immediately offered his services. The result is this stunning debut that could well be a summer smash.
And all this from a band so in their infancy that they have yet to play their first live gig. Watch this space.
