It mustn’t be easy to play the same day England exits the World Cup in misery after a dreadful loss with Germany. Nevertheless, Gangalians played at the Barden’s Boudoir in front of a not too easy crowd. Perhaps it was the sadness of the match, but they could have had it easier on the guys. So ok, there were some technical issues and the vocal levels weren’t good, but still, the guys played a then pretty good set, with Hair being the highlight, with everyone dancing around. Another good one was My House, with the harmony filled with a shimmery and exciting feel that suited the hot summer crowd.
There was space for comedy too, with the lead singer so into trashing around that at one point he knocked over his keyboard, which was pretty amusing, and the hyperactive guitarist, who kept dancing around embracing his guitar, as if it was an extension of his body. It’s a shame that further problems arose, with broken guitar string and microphone issues, as they lost momentum, which is a shame as everyone was having a good time.
A really good gig and a band that you ought to check out, if you haven’t already done so.
