Alba Lua – Ballad Of Joseph Merrick EP

Alba Lua debut Ballad Of Joseph Merrick EP is a dreamy trip to far way lands, bringing the now saturate world of country music to a new dimension, with their psychedelic sonorities.
Winsome sotto voce voce (whispered) vocals, reverb, rough guitars are what they give to the listener, who will also enjoy the solemnity of a worn organ. Everything is pretty mellow until half of Valley of Abra, which is a much more energetic track. From this point onwards the sound is filled with some heavy guitar riffs, making the listener wonder whether they are still listening to the same EP.
Easy to listen to, it may lack of the blessing sparkle that some debut album have given us. It feels more like background music when listened on a record; however, I’d love to check them out live: I have the feeling that live are amazing.
