Even in a scene as vibrant as Brooklyn’s, Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro – the principal members of Savoir Adore – bring something entirely unique and exciting to the table with their lush, leftfield slant on pop.
After releasing limited edition debut UK single ‘Bodies’ earlier this year (receiving support from Radio 1 and NME Radio, plus featured on Myspace), Savoir Adore are pleased to announce their debut album ‘In the Wooded Forest’ will be released on August 16th through Cantora Records, the New York label who helped launch MGMT, Violens and Bear Hands.
Spearheaded by Hammer and Muro, the group weaves vivid imagery into their experimental-popmusic as seen on forthcoming single ‘We Talk Like Machines‘ – to be released on July 26th – which is brimming with soaring melodies, ethereal voices and New Wave synths.
‘In the Wooded Forest’ showcases the many strengths of this exciting, young duo. The record opens with gradual climatic build of ‘The Scientific Findings of Dr. Rousseau’ before transporting the listener to the beautifully serene ‘Early Bird’. From the off kilter pop of ‘Bodies‘ to meditatively gorgeous closer ‘The Garden’, Savoir Adore display a potent combination of raw talent and musical maturity. With their unique blend of indie influences and infectious rhythms, they have garnered comparisons to Phoenix, Jens Lekman and Bishop Allen.
Savoir Adore originated purely for fun in 2007, when the two multi-instrumentalists Hammer And Muro challenged each other to make a concept album in one weekend. This recording ended up being their first EP, ‘The Adventures of Mr. Pumpernickel and the Girl with Animals in her Throat’ and introduced listeners to the fantasy-pop collective.
After this first foray into the studio proved such a success, the duo continued to create music.
Savoir Adore tour the UK in July.
