Young Fathers Release New Music Video for ‘Automatic’

| On 18, Jun 2010

With a sound reminiscent of early Outcast, De La Soul and Spank Rock; young Scottish hip hop trio Young Fathers get ready to release brand new single Automatic’/‘Dancing Mantaray’ in the UK on 21st June through This is Music (SMD, Little Boots).

Having spent the past year feverishly touring and recording fresh new material, this AA single is produced by critically acclaimed producer Ginz

Young Fathers recently supported Simian Mobile Disco on tour, a relationship that saw Simian go on to produce and co write the track ‘Turn Up The Dial’ with Young Fathers – this featured on SMD’s 2009 album.  They have also collaborated with break-beat duo Stanton Warriors on their forthcoming single ‘Take Me To Your Leader’.  Young Fathers have also recently played with Esser, Dizzee Rascal, The Noisettes, La Roux, Grandmaster Flash, Yo Majesty and Annie Mac amongst others.  In addition to all this the boys have been busy writing and finishing tracks for their forthcoming album.

The Edinburgh based three piece, Ally, Kayus and G, met as young teens in the only under 18’s hip hop club in town.  Sharing a love of soul, reggae, old school hip-hop and cheesy 90’s pop tunes, they started out recording music in their bedrooms, using only a karaoke machine and a plastic microphone from Argos.  They’ve come a long way since then

After releasing their anthemic debut single ‘Straight Back On It’, the boys have been keeping themselves busy: remixing numerous tracks for Phoenix, Golden Silvers, Shoes vs Primary 1, Dan Black and Esser. They’ve been constantly on the road, refining and developing their critically acclaimed and brilliantly choreographed live shows, impressing crowds with their outrageous dance moves throughout the UK and Europe.

Having played their first big festivals last summer (T in The Park, Lovebox, Creamfields), Young Fathers will  be back this summer with a string of live dates across the UK and festivals to be announced shortly.
