Beatstakes, hailing from Germany and sounding totally different from the Eurovision contestant who won this year, are one of those few bands that make it across the border, alongside Scorpions and Rammstein.
I have to say I don’t know them well, but they are known for being incredible live so I took the chance to see it before my eyes. I wasn’t disappointed at all! The sold out U.L.U. felt as if it couldn’t contain the energy that was both on and off stage!
The band showcased tracks from the album Limbo Messiah which was well received by the audience, who already new them all! It is incredible how these fellas drive the crowd, who totally enjoys the set, dancing and singing along, a proper punk set!!
The set also comprised of fans favourites, such as Jenny Became Insane, Hello Joe, Loyal To None, Demons Galore, Hail to the Freaks and the track that brought them to European popularity, I don’t care as long as you sing, which literally drove the audience mad.
Despite not a massive fan of the genre and my superficial knowledge of the band, I had a really good time, totally drowned by the energy these guys put in performing and pleasing their fans, acknowledging the fact that is pretty much due to them if they’re here. It felt like being at a family dinner, intimate and cozy yet extremely powerful. I will definitely dig more in to their back catalogue and find out more about them, they totally won me over!
