The Smashing Pumpkins have announced details of their first tour since 2008.
Beginning in Cleveland, Ohio on July 6, the group’s US jaunt will end in Tampa, Florida on July 21.
The group, who recently released a four-track EP called ‘Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Vol. 1: Songs For A Sailor’, have also revealed plans to invite select fans to attend their sound checks.
“We are going to do something unique,” Billy Corgan said in a statement on the band’s website SmashingPumpkins.com. “Which is play an invite-only set during sound check of almost all new, unreleased songs. We’re still figuring out a way to make it possible for some of the fans who’ll be in the line outside waiting to get in for that.”
Meanwhile, Corgan explained that rehearsals for the tour “have been fantastic” and that he hasn’t “been this comfortable in a band situation since about 1995,” adding that “musically, we seem to have wound our way back to a more kinetic, electric, and psychedelic sound that reminds me of SP in [the] Gish–Siamese [Dream] era.”
